Today I made a start on tidying my room while watching some of the Family Guy boxset Gem bought me for my birthday. I also noticed that the first season's episodes have a very morbid theme running through them.
Anyway, soon I had to set off for the bus and, despite setting off early, I arrived just in time to watch the 100 go past. I walked into Cadishead and caught the 67 instead. On the walk, Gem and I had a row about various stuff, which essentially boiled down to our jealousy of each other having fun away from the other. We definitely still have some sorting out to do, but we've done more already than Gem would seem to realise...
I eventually found my way to the school where we were doing a demonstration, and we went ahead with the demo. We did some kicking on a pad, then a few forms, followed by some knife defense and a spectacular self-defense technique (ended with me doing a diving break fall and everyone watching going "ooooh" in empathy with the pain they thought I must have suffered). We managed to get ten names and numbers from it, so it was most likely worth it.
Andi ( bleed_eternal) was at the demo, but I didn't manage to sign him up. I tried! You never know, he may come along. I honestly don't know why everyone isn't doing martial arts these days, apart from because they don't know the benefits. Except the window lickers, we leave them to it.
I spoke to Gem on the way back home and we both apologised for our part in the argument, as is usually the case. I was quite impressed with myself for the way I handled the whole thing. I mean, I lost my rag a bit during the actual row, but afterwards, I calmed myself down, did the demo without being distracted by it, then explained my side of it when we'd both had chance to calm down a bit. |

Today's been a really good day. It started off enjoyable but average, but I've been on a total high for ages now; I'll explain why over the course of the post.
This morning was staff training at Hindley, so I made my way to Master Leishman's (Hindley chief instructor) house in Cadishead and he gave me a lift there. That was pretty entertaining and laid back, as usual, with Master P dropping even bigger hints at me working for him in the not-so-distant future...
Eventually, Vicky, Dave and I got back to Swinton, and decided we'd do the cleaning before going out VIPing in Farnworth in the school rush. When we went to Farnworth, I got six names and numbers, even though it was completely dead, as demonstrated by Vicky getting only three and Dave not managing to get any numbers at all. I think everyone I spoke to gave me their number, so I got pretty lucky really.
Back at the centre, I made a few appointments before all the fun began. Basically, a six o'clock appointment turned up, so Vicky took them into the office for their induction. About twenty minutes later, a family of four turned up for their 6:30pm appointment, so I just gave them a tour (my first ever tour!) and asked them to wait for Vicky to finish up in the office. However, our 7:30pm appointment then showed up extremely early, closely followed by someone who was due in at seven but hadn't been written in the diary, so I had two families and one man on his own sat around. I gave the second family and the other guy a tour of the school, then waited for Vicky.
As she still had to sign up the guy she was with, she said I may as well take someone into the office and do an induction. Talk about thrown in at the deep end! I've only looked at the office script once ever, so I had no clue what to say or do... so I winged it. The family were very friendly and chatty, so I eased into it and pretty much forgot I didn't know what I was doing. Eventually, not only did they sign up, but they also paid in full for the first programme! I was really happy at signing up my first ever induction; looks like being thrown in at the deep end works for me...
Master P phoned later and Dave told him I'd signed someone up, so he asked to speak with me. He said something along the lines of "you're really carving yourself out a job there, aren't you?" Another obvious hint, I reckon...
I love this new attitude I have, and by new I mean brand new - since Sunday/Monday. Basically, if something appears to cause me a problem, I've completely stopped myself worrying about it; I just find a way around it. Tonight would've been really difficult for me last Thursday, but this Thursday I just got on with it. Long may this continue! |

Today, I continued briefly with Pokémon Blue on the bus to Swinton. I caught a Sandshrew, then switched off and read through the scripts a bit. I arrived earlier than everyone else, so I finally played some of the new music I put on my phone ages ago but haven't been able to listen to due to battery issues.
When the others arrived, Vicky and I went to Farnworth VIPing. I only got four, but then again it was pretty much completely dead there, and half the people walking around had one foot in the grave anyway! Vicky got six before we decided to go back. The other three got fifteen between them in Eccles, so 25 isn't a bad haul really.
I then cleaned the toilet (I know, glamorous job or what?) and swept the mats, before turning my attention to making appointments. I made fifteen, which definitely seemed to impress Master P.
I also got the opportunity to train, albeit for only ten minutes, and only doing a few jump kicks. I have already noticed the amount of training I'm missing out on since starting work there; I guess it's up to me to keep myself ticking over whenever I can. Also, someone let slip that I may indeed be taking my test for third dan in November rather than waiting until next May, which I would definitely appreciate, and I feel I deserve.
Anyway, tomorrow's a very early start, and it's already getting late, so I'd better get going. |

Okay, so turning 20 seemed like a pretty good prompt to begin writing this again, but circumstances conspired somewhat and this has been my first real opportunity to do it, so a recap of the weekend and events since is in order.
On Saturday, I went to Pizza Hut and Rock Kitchen with a fairly large group of friends, with several more choosing to only attend Kitch, mainly due to financial or time restrictions. Anyway, I decided long ago that everyone should dress up as something beginning with M, in honour of... well, me. The night was really good, I enjoyed it immensely and the people who didn't have the time for me didn't even enter my head once, let alone ruin the night for me as I had feared they would. I got more drunk than I have ever been (with the possible exception of that legendary fortnight of parties in 2006), so Gem and I left a little early because I was honestly too drunk to go on. I'll supply pictures when I'm not too tired/lazy to steal them from various people's MySpaces and FaceBooks.
Sunday, my actual birthday, wasn't especially thrilling. Gem was working from midday until 5pm, so she had already left by the time I woke up. I spent most of the day watching Top Gear until she got home. When Gem was home, I argued with Dad over the phone about her staying over, which put me in an awful mood. I'm over it now, I've just decided what I'm going to do about it and, when I actually have a minute, I'll put my plan into action. Gem then very kindly drove me home to pick up my Tang Soo Do uniform, before dropping me off at Gran's, where I was sleeping that night.
Monday was the first day of my trial period working at Family Martial Arts Centres' Swinton location. It went fairly well: I managed to collect seven names and numbers (the daily target) when out VIPing and made nine appointments for the coming days, which I would say is pretty good for a newcomer (ten is the overall daily target). It wasn't too strenuous to be honest, but I wasn't surprised by that. Apart from VIPing and making a lot of phone calls, the only other thing I did was vacuum the downstairs area, which only took fifteen minutes or so. I slept at Mum's that night, and while there restarted Pokémon Blue (yes, again!... it will be completed and put to rest this time), and gained my first badge before switching off.
Today, I had an early start at FMAC, but again it wasn't too strenuous. I even had chance to try a few 720 Back Kicks in the training hall. I got five names and numbers today, but the place was pretty much like a ghost town... although the hottest day of the year so far certainly made it far more enjoyable for more than one reason! However, it also meant that we were absolutely roasting in our heavyweight Tang Soo Do uniforms... I vacuumed again and headed off to return my fancy dress outfit and take my usual Cadishead class. The students were in particularly high spirits for some reason today. I played along with them, verging on encouraging them at times, up to a point, when I had to say enough was enough because nothing was getting done.
The last four days have, with minor exceptions, been pretty good. I was really bothered by the amount of people not coming to my night out, but then I realised that the people who did are the ones I really wanted there (with the exceptions of Lee, who has his obvious excuse, and Jess, who was unfortunately really ill on the day to the extent that she was crying down the phone). It's made me realise that some of the people, not necessarily everyone who said no, aren't worth my loyalty.
Gem is now in Denmark with Meike, leaving only Chris in the right region of the right country out of the four people I would consider most important but, on the positive side, I'll probably be working too much to have much time to miss the other three that much. I'm hopefully seeing Chris on Friday, although I may have to reschedule now. I'll speak with him about it soon. If any of you are interested in how Gem's going on in Denmark, she's promised me she'll keep gembob89 updated as much as possible while she's out there. |

Before I hit the hay, all I have to say is this:
Eff you, Wii. Why didn't the vent died out on me years or so? Just when utada wants to brawl with me, what happens? The vent dies, grr! >O Ah well, I should have it sometime this week since one of the Nintendo of America is here in California.
Anyway, good night. |
